"Joy, feeling one's own value, being loved and appreciated by others, feeling useful and capable of production are all factors of enormous value for the human soul."

- Maria Montessori

Every living being is connected to the same source of life energy. We create a space for children to explore their spiritual connection in a loving and supportive environment. As a ministry of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, we follow the shared belief of love and acceptance for all.

Montessori Peace Curriculum

Montessori believed, “establishing lasting peace is the work of education.” Offering opportunities for caring for one another, supporting social/emotional development, and utilizing our Peace Garden for conflict resolution, the children learn the foundations for peace. Mutual respect and an atmosphere of support and understanding are the tenants of our Montessori classrooms. Children are valued for their unique personalities and these lessons empower children to be self-aware, empathetic, responsible and independent.

Grace & Courtesy

Grace and Courtesy lessons are the foundation for creating a harmonious classroom of mixed ages. The children have a need to know and to absorb the social structures in order to be more at ease in their environment. Grace and Courtesy lessons provide the children the vocabulary, actions, and steps required for them to build their awareness and responsiveness of those around them. This gives the children a better sense of orientation in their social structure. Learning how to push in a chair so others won’t fall, how and when to say ‘excuse me,’ how to introduce oneself, are a few examples of lessons in Grace and Courtesy.

Spiritual Exploration

Our Primary communities are exposed to various spiritual practices through our diverse families and their cultures. Whether learning about Diwali, Hannukah, Chinese New Year, or All Souls Day, the children absorb the underlying message of kindness and acceptance of all. As part of St. Dunstan’s Church, the children visit the Sanctuary to experience the beauty and serenity of a sacred space and they participate in our annual Christmas pageant.

Community Labyrinth

Our labyrinth is used by both our children and our families as an opportunity for quieting the mind, walking meditation, healing, discovery, and exploration. Nestled between the Church and School with a backdrop of the Valley mountains, this spiritual tool is a favorite to many and we welcome you to visit its path.
