DAnDelion Community

2 Years to 3 years

Our Dandelion Community prepares the children for their transition into the Primary classroom. Toilet independence is a large part of the experience in the Dandelion classroom. The children acquire many new skills that allow for freedom of movement and the development of the hand. Their environment is rich with opportunities for care of the self and others, food preparation, fine and gross motor activities, as well as multiple step tasks to increase concentration and focus. Sensory activities, music, and art exploration are a fundamental part of the curriculum as well.

Primary Communities: Sage Class & Lavender Class

3 to 6 Years old

Our Primary Communities follow the traditional Montessori curriculum serving children 3 to 6 years old. Our students enter the classroom at age 3 and remain in the same classroom for the following 3 years. Our lead guides hold either an Association Montessori Internationale Primary diploma or American Montessori Society Diploma, as well as a Master’s in Education. The Montessori curriculum is set up in sequential order meeting the needs of all developmental stages allowing the children to move at their own pace and time. As a child passes through each year, they have the opportunity to be an observer, apprentice, and mentor. The mixed-age model removes competition, offers a more realistic experience of life, and provides the possibility for deeper levels of compassion and community to unfold. Our Primary curriculum extends through kindergarten where children work with all of the materials and go deeper into the math, language, geography, art, music, and science areas of the classroom. To get the most out of the Montessori experience, we encourage children to stay through their kindergarten year.
